The headline describes this like a scene out of Mortal Kombat, but it’s not. It’s way cooler.
One of MyCityByNight’s founders – Sean Stack – received that dreaded call from the bank. I can imagine the conversation going a little something like this:
Bank: Mr Stack?
Bank: We just want to verify if you have been making any online purchases
Stack: Err. None that I can recall in the last 24 hours
Bank: Well that’s awkward
Bank: I hope you’re sitting down. A dirty online fraudster has just made a R40K transaction from your credit card
Awkies, indeed Steve!
Stack kept his cool and proposed to Absa that if they return the cash dollar, he will personally donate R2K to a charity of their choice.
The cash was recovered, returned to his account on Sunday night, the bank tweeted him this morning and delivered the final blow via this email:
Click on the image for a better view. I’m an FNB fan and joke about Absa often, but this is super rad.
All I need to do is convince Stack to pay this money forward to the Put Foot Foundation and my work here will be done. You can help the cause too and tweet this “@Absa I suggest you get @MyCityByNight to donate R20k to @ShoesonFeet @putfootrally”
